Instruction for Use 1. Stringing method Hold the bottom winding knob of the music box, rotate it slowly clockwise. Stop when you feel a slight resistance. Cleaning and Maintenance Wipe the exterior with a soft dry cloth. Do not wash it with water, alcohol, or cleaning agents directly. Use a small brush to gently clean the dust in the crevices. Lubrication and Maintenance If there is any jamming during rotation or if the sound is rough, you can add 1 to 2 drops of clock-specific oil to the gears and the shafts. Do not use cooking oil, engine oil, or butter. These substances are prone to accumulate dust and deteriorate, causing the movement to become stuck. 3. Storage environment Place it in a dry, cool, and dust-free area. A humid environment is likely to cause the movement to rust and the components to malfunction. 4. Long-term Storage When not in use for a long time, do not wind the spring tightly. Keep the spring in a relaxed state to avoid elastic fatigue. Store it in a packaging box to prevent dust accumulation and bumps. 5. Usage Prohibitions Do not drop, squeeze or shake vigorously. Troubleshooting Fault 1: Completely unresponsive (no resistance when winding the string, no sound even when not rotating) Possible reasons & corresponding elimination methods The spring has broken. Reason: Excessive winding, violent twisting or aging caused the spring steel band to break, resulting in complete loss of power. Solution: 1.When winding the spring, there is absolutely no resistance, and no matter how much you wind it, there is no response at all. The most likely cause is that the spring has broken. 2. The tension wheel and the movement gear have come loose. Reason: The connection between the winding shaft and the gear of the movement became loose due to a fall or vibration. Solution: 1.Be careful when opening the bottom of the music box (pay attention to the screws/clasps to prevent any parts from falling out), and check the engagement between the winding shaft and the gear of the movement. 2. If the gear comes off, gently reposition it to ensure that the shaft is securely engaged with the gear; after repositioning, cover the base and then attempt the winding test again. Fault2: It can rotate, but there is no music or the music does not play. Possible reasons & corresponding elimination methods 1.The hammer has come off or is misaligned, preventing it from hitting the tuning peg. Reason: The sound hammer fell off or was shaken off the turning axis of the movement, or its position shifted, preventing it from hitting the sound teeth of the comb. Solution: 1.Remove the base, inspect the hammer on the movement to see if any hammer has fallen or its position has shifted. 2. Use forceps to gently reposition the fallen hammer onto the rotating shaft, ensuring that the hammer can rotate along with the movement of the movement and strike the sound comb teeth evenly. 3. After resetting, manually rotate the gear of the rotor to observe whether the hammer can strike the teeth one by one. Then reassemble and conduct a winding test. 2. The teeth of the comb have deformed or broken, preventing it from producing sound. Reason: The sound comb teeth become deformed, bent or aged, and may even break, thus unable to vibrate and produce sound. Solution: 1.Expose the sound comb to strong light and observe whether the teeth have any bending, deformation or fracture. 2. For slightly deformed teeth, gently reset them by using a toothpick to push them back into place (the force must be extremely light to avoid breaking them) 3. If the teeth break and cannot be repaired by themselves, a replacement of the same model movement is required. 3. The hammer shaft is dry and stuck, making it impossible to strike. Reason: The movement has not been used for a long time. Dust and dryness have accumulated on the crankshaft of the hammer, preventing the hammer from lifting and striking the sound comb. Solution: 1.Drop 1 drop of clock-specific lubricant at the rotation shaft of the hammer, then gently move the hammer to allow the lubricant to seep into the gap of the shaft. 2. Repeat this process several times to ensure that the hammer can move freely. Then, assemble the bowstring and conduct a test. Fault 3: After winding up, the music plays but the carousel does not rotate. Possible reasons & corresponding elimination methods The rotating transmission shaft is disengaged from the movement gear. Reason: The central drive shaft connecting the movement and the top horse mechanism was disconnected from the drive gears of the movement, causing the movement to rotate but the drive shaft to remain stationary. Solution: 1.Remove the base, then inspect the transmission gears at the top of the movement to see if they are meshing with the gears on the central transmission shaft. 2. If the gears come apart, gently push the central shaft downward to ensure that the gear is securely engaged with the gear of the movement. 3. Manually rotate the gear of the motor core, observe whether the central shaft is rotating synchronously, and then assemble and test. 4. The rotating disc at the top of the carousel was stuck by an object. Reason: The wooden decorative piece has fallen off, there is leftover glue, or the top cover has deformed, causing the rotating disc to get stuck. Solution: 1.Check the gap between the top rotating disc and the top cover, and inspect for any decorative fragments or remaining glue. 2. Remove any foreign objects from the gaps, gently rotate the turntable, and confirm there is no jamming before winding and testing. 3. The central transmission shaft is dry and deformed, unable to drive rotation. Reason: The central axis has not been used for a long time and has become dry. Or it may have been dropped and slightly deformed, resulting in excessive resistance when rotating. Solution: 1. At the contact gap between the central drive shaft and the base, apply a drop of clock-specific lubricating oil. Gently rotate the turntable back and forth to allow the oil to penetrate. 2. If the shaft is deformed, gently adjust its verticality to ensure that it does not rub against surrounding components during rotation.
